Getting started

Understand workspaces, teams, projects, and work

Find the right place for your work and understand what a client can see.

Your workspace is the boundary around your organization's work. If you belong to two workspaces, you switch between them; search, notifications, and My Work do not combine their contents.

The model in one picture

Workspace and client boundaries

  • Workspace B: separate work and access

Workspace A

  • Internal team→Project
  • Project→Sections
  • Sections→Tasks and tickets
  • ProjectExplicit sharing →Client organization
  • Client organization→Client members
A workspace contains internal teams, projects, work, and client organizations. Teams can give access to projects. An explicit share connects a project to a client organization. A second workspace is separate.

In words: teams group internal people; projects organize work into sections. A client organization is an external group inside the workspace, not another workspace. Sharing a project grants only the permitted, non-internal content to the relevant client members. Workspace B remains separate from every object in workspace A.

Find your bearings — 2 minutes

Before you start: accept your invitation and sign in. You need access to at least one workspace; the available navigation depends on your role.

  1. Check the Workspace selector before looking for a task. Choose the workspace named in your invitation if you have more than one.

  2. As an internal user, open Projects and select a project you can read. As a client, open Shared projects in your portal. A missing project is not evidence that it was deleted; it may not be shared with you.

  3. Open a work item from the project. A task has open/completed status. A ticket follows the workspace's ticket workflow. Read its project context before changing anything.

  4. If the same task appears in two projects, compare its work key. It is one task with multiple placements: editing its title changes the task in both places. Each project can give that placement a different section or position.

Expected result: you can identify the active workspace, the project containing your work, and whether you are handling a task or a ticket.

If something is missing

Wait for the project list to finish loading. If it shows a loading error, retry before treating it as empty. Check the workspace selector and ask the person who invited you to confirm your team/project access. A favorite, copied link, or mention does not grant access.

Clients see their own tickets by default. Client administrators may have broader access within their own organization; neither client role can read internal notes or another organization's private work.
